Torrejón de Ardoz, February 27, 2025. The Torrejón Carnival kicks off tomorrow, Friday, February 28, with a big children’s party in the Plaza Mayor, where music for the little ones will take center stage, along with Children’s Parks. As tradition dictates, DiscoGuachi will be there. Children’s Party with the Guachis, «Come in your costume!» in two sessions from 17:30 to 18:00 and 19:50 to 20:30. And let’s not forget about our beloved Guachis, children’s characters that have captured our hearts and become a symbol of our Torrejón identity. Additionally, this year, we have two exciting new additions that will delight the little ones: a performance by CantaJuego (18:00), the best Spanish children’s musical group, and Nika y Matsu (19:00), a children’s duo making waves with their songs.
Saturday:
The little ones continue to be the stars of our Carnival on Saturday, March 1, starting at 12 noon in the Plaza Mayor, with a morning filled with children’s parks and the highly anticipated Children’s Costume Contest. Hundreds of kids showcase their unique creations, displaying originality and the dedicated effort put in by their parents.
In the afternoon, from 18:00 to 20:00, from Avenida de la Constitución to Plaza Mayor, is a moment no one wants to miss: the Grand Costume Parade. Peñas and associations present their carefully crafted costumes and choreographies that they have been preparing for months to be the most original and entertaining. While the judges deliberate on the winners, we will enjoy a musical evening with King África (20:00) setting the rhythm for dancing and reminiscing about his greatest musical hits. Following that, the performance of Torrejón’s own DJ, Jorge Vaquero.
Sunday:
To close out this Carnival, we have the Burial of the Sardine. Once again, associations and peñas will parade on Sunday, March 2, at 12:00 in the Plaza de Toros, showcasing their musical choreographies where rhythm and good humor are always key. This time, we can comfortably watch from the Plaza de Toros, with free entry until full capacity. We bid farewell to the Carnival in style, with a fantastic sardine feast starting at 14:00 with the Popular Sardine Feast in front of the Plaza de Toros. Additionally, there will be an alternative children’s menu available for the little ones.
The mayor expressed his gratitude to the 58 peñas and associations participating in the Carnivals, highlighting that «on many occasions, we emphasize the great associative and peña network that Torrejón de Ardoz boasts, but if there is a moment throughout the year where they are indispensable, it is during Carnival. Without their participation, effort, spirit, and joy, our Carnival would not have one of the most impressive costume parades in the Community of Madrid, enjoyed by thousands of attendees along the route, and, of course, the city would not have the colorful and cheerful atmosphere it exudes during these days. Let these words serve as recognition.»
