Las Fiestas Populares 2025 de Torrejón de Ardoz: las más seguras de la historia

• The Local Security Board of Torrejón de Ardoz met the week before the Festivities, co-chaired by the mayor, Alejandro Navarro Prieto, and the Government Delegate of Spain in Madrid, Francisco Martín, to analyze the Security Plan that was carried out during the Popular Festivities of Torrejón held from June 20 to 25, with a large security deployment that allowed the celebrations to take place smoothly, providing tranquility to the tens of thousands of people attending.

• The Government Delegate highlighted that Torrejón de Ardoz is «an extremely safe city, being 20 points below the crime rate of the Community of Madrid, Torrejón is one of the safest cities in the region with a very positive trend in all criminal typologies.»

• Each day of the celebrations saw more than 250 local and national police officers deployed to ensure security in the Fairground and enable the festivities to proceed without notable incidents, maintaining the new reinforced and expanded security deployment conceived and promoted by the mayor, the Security councilor, the General Director of Security, and the Commissioner of the Local Police of Torrejón, which was implemented at the 2024 festivities.

• Noteworthy from the security deployment is that, for the second consecutive year, a police control tower has been installed in the center of the march street of the peñas enclosure, with the addition of a mounted police squadron, canine units covering the filters at the entrances to the Fairground, and an increase in agreements with 11 municipalities in the region to reinforce the number of personnel at the festivities.

• Additionally, the City of Torrejón de Ardoz has relied on cutting-edge technology for security at the Popular Festivities, following an agreement signed with AXON, a leading company in this sector, to implement the FUSUS system, an emergency software for managing pioneering security systems. This technological application allows, among other improvements, to connect all cameras carried by police officers and civil protection volunteers with the Local Police Control Center, geolocate all personnel and police vehicles, and share operational information in real-time with other emergency bodies such as the National Police, Civil Guard, Firefighters, and Civil Protection. It also includes the use of TASER devices and state-of-the-art drones.

• Let’s remember that Torrejón de Ardoz was already a pioneer city in installing innovative security systems such as the placement of emergency buttons in all booths of the Fairground to immediately alert the Control Center in case of any alarm situation and enable the immediate presence of police or health personnel, the filters at all entrances to the Peñas Enclosure, or the installation of security cameras, not to mention the presence of numerous units of undercover rapid intervention agents, whose effectiveness has been widely proven in recent years during the festivities.

• On the other hand, a large health operation was deployed with 50 personnel per day and 10 ambulances, with the Recinto Ferial Pavilion housing a permanent base of Civil Protection and several health points in the Concerts Area.

• The mayor of Torrejón de Ardoz, Alejandro Navarro Prieto, has positively assessed «the joint work of the police forces during the festivities, highlighting the excellent work done in these days» and emphasized that «the coordination between the National Police and the Local Police has been essential to ensure calm and safe celebrations, as well as the exemplary behavior of both residents and the numerous visitors who have participated in the festive events.»

• The National Police Station has highlighted «the planning and effectiveness of the security deployment, designed with a preventive approach and reinforced with specialized units during peak times. It has been emphasized that constant collaboration with the Local Police and the institutional support of the City Council were key elements to meet the established objectives and ensure the successful development of the festivities.»

• The Chief Commissioner of the Local Police, Miguel Parra Redondo, has emphasized that «interinstitutional coordination has been the basis of the success of the deployment, and the cooperation between bodies has been exemplary, working in total harmony with the National Police, which allowed for effective action in each phase of the operation. As a result, the festivities have taken place in an exemplary manner and without significant incidents.»
