Micael D.S.M., the accused of the quadruple fatal hit-and-run at a wedding, has stated in court that he fled the celebration because the guests «wanted to kill» his children and nephews and that he did not intend to accelerate the car, but his body did it on its own, out of fear, while he was crouched down hearing gunshots.
«They want to kill my children, my nephews,» the accused stated, emphasizing that three years ago, at this wedding in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), he was fleeing his pursuers who shouted at him: «Portuguese, we are going to kill you, I curse your dead we are going to kill you.»

The Madrid Court has continued the trial by jury against El Portugués on Thursday, facing a prison sentence of 226 years at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office for four counts of murder and nine of attempted murder (nine people were injured).
At the prosecutor’s questioning, El Portugués maintained that he honked the horn «at all times» to make the guests move away and that at the time of the hit-and-run, he was crouched down because he was hearing «blows and gunshots.»
He reiterated that his intention was not to press the accelerator, which he eventually did, attributing it to his body’s reaction out of fear: «If I had wanted to, I would have started accelerating much earlier.»
«I do not think at any moment that I hit anyone»
He also stated that he was not aware of hitting several guests and that he did see the moonroof of his car broken, but not how the victims were crashing against the glass.
«I do not think at any moment that I hit anyone,» he affirmed in response to the prosecutor’s questions, with whom he had several conflicts during his testimony.
Witnesses of the multiple hit-and-run at a wedding in Torrejón: «An intentional massacre»
According to the accused’s version, he fled from the celebration venue, the El Rancho restaurant in Torrejón, because he and his children were being attacked with sticks and knives after a group of «kids,» whom he did not know, hit his son. While fleeing, he also saw a guest with a silver pistol.
«What father does not save his children if they are being tried to be killed?»
When he got in the car, another vehicle blocked his path, and he is convinced that it was done to cut him off, as he was being pursued.
«What father does not save his children if they are being tried to be killed?» he asked several times, while pointing out that there were moments at the wedding where he «feared» for his life.
As a result, four out of the five accusations brought by the victims are seeking life imprisonment with the possibility of parole for the accused, while his defense is requesting his acquittal arguing the presence of the defenses of insurmountable fear and necessity.
