The Local Police of Torrejón de Ardoz has arrested two individuals for theft of public lighting wiring thanks to the collaboration of the community, as reported by the city council in a press release.
The events took place when a neighbor, attentive to the suspicious behavior of the criminals, saw them tampering with the manholes on the median of Cristóbal Colón Avenue and light pole covers, quickly alerted the Local Police, allowing the Torrejón agents to act effectively.
When the police officers arrived at the scene, they observed that several manholes and light poles had been tampered with, although there was no one in the vicinity.

Therefore, they resorted to viewing the cameras, whose images confirmed that two hooded individuals were tampering with those manholes and then getting into a white car.
Subsequently, they saw the detainees inside the vehicle, in the trunk of which they found a large number of tools and several rolls of cable used for lighting.
After the necessary checks and the identification of the suspects, the agents proceeded with their arrest and they were brought before judicial authorities.

The mayor, Alejandro Navarro Prieto, stated that «thanks to the community collaboration and the excellent work of the agents, these individuals who cause significant harm to the common good by rendering public lighting unusable through their vandalistic theft were apprehended.»
On the other hand, the Security Councilor, Alberto Cantalejo highlighted that «this type of community collaboration is crucial to combating crime in our city and allows us to reinforce security efforts, which, combined once again with preventive surveillance measures and the presence of agents on the streets, continue to yield results and hinder the actions of criminals.»
