Continúan las procesiones de la Semana Santa de Torrejón de Ardoz, Fiesta de Interés Turístico

Today, Holy Thursday, April 17, the processions of Holy Week in Torrejón de Ardoz, a Tourist Interest Festival, continue with the Procession of the Lord’s Passion by the Brotherhood of the Vera Cruz and Our Lady of the Crowned Solitude starting at 8:00 p.m. The images of «Jesus’ Prayer in the Garden of Olives,» «Captive Jesus,» «Jesus Tied to the Column,» «Jesus of Nazareth,» and «Our Lady of Solitude» will depart from the Church of San Juan Evangelista. The route will pass through Plaza Mayor and the streets of Curas, Cruz, Ronda del Saliente, Cervantes, Pesquera, and Plaza Mayor, accompanied by the municipal band.

Torrejón de Ardoz, April 17, 2025. In this regard, the main processions to be celebrated by the Brotherhood of the Vera Cruz and Our Lady of the Crowned Solitude are as follows:

 Thursday, April 17 at 8:00 p.m. Holy Thursday. The Procession of the Lord’s Passion will take place, featuring the images of «Jesus’ Prayer in the Garden of Olives,» «Captive Jesus,» «Jesus Tied to the Column,» «Jesus of Nazareth,» and «Our Lady of Solitude.» Departure from the Church of San Juan Evangelista. The route will pass through Plaza Mayor and the streets of Curas, Cruz, Ronda del Saliente, Cervantes, Pesquera, and Plaza Mayor, accompanied by the municipal band.

 Friday, April 18 at 11:30 a.m. Good Friday. The Sorrowful Encounter Procession will take place. It represents the encounter between Jesus of Nazareth and Veronica when she wiped his face. The encounter will occur in Plaza Mayor.

 Friday, April 18 starting at 9:00 p.m. Good Friday. The Burial Procession will feature the images of «The Holy Calvary,» «The Virgin of Sorrows,» «The Holy Sepulcher,» and «Our Lady of Solitude.» Departure from the Church of San Juan Evangelista. The route will pass through Plaza Mayor, Curas, Cruz, Ronda del Saliente, Solitude, and Plaza Mayor.

As for the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Crowned Virgin of the Rosary, the upcoming processions are:

 Sunday, April 20 at 11:30 a.m. The Resurrection Sunday Encounter Procession will begin at 11:30 a.m. This is one of the most attended processions. The image of the Resurrected Jesus, accompanied by the Virgin’s ladies, will depart from the Puerta del Sol (Church of San Juan Evangelista), Hospital, Jabonería, Solitude, and Plaza Mayor. The image of the Virgin, escorted by the Knights of the Virgin, will depart from the Puerta del Sol (Church of San Juan Evangelista) and pass through Plaza Mayor. The encounter will take place in Plaza Mayor, followed by a release of doves and a fireworks display. Both images will then process together through Plaza Mayor, San Isidro, Cristo, Avda. Constitución, Pesquera, Plaza Mayor, and Puerta del Sol.

“I want to remind everyone that the Holy Week in Torrejón has been declared a Tourist Interest Festival. The Community of Madrid approved this in 2014, and once again, I would like to congratulate both brotherhoods for their hard work and dedication to the preparations and rehearsals. Thanks to them, the splendor of the past has been restored and the prestige of Holy Week has been elevated,” stated Mayor Alejandro Navarro Prieto. He also added, “We would like to ask for the collaboration of the residents to decorate their balconies with the Spanish flag or purple banners during this week, especially those along the procession routes.”
