The Tortilla Day took place with an excellent festive atmosphere and outstanding participation, highlighting the free distribution, an original and spectacular dog exhibition, and the tortilla contest, among other activities. Therefore, there was excellent participation from Torrejon residents of all ages and families in the activities organized by the city of Torrejón de Ardoz on the occasion of Tortilla Day.

Torrejón de Ardoz, February 3, 2025. Tens of thousands of people participated in municipal activities on Tortilla Day, which included the free distribution of tortilla, dessert, and a gift of an apron. We must highlight the resounding success of the spectacular exhibition by the local police dog group, held in Tauro, which made headlines with the participation of a Civil Guard helicopter, where two agents and a dog descended for a rescue mission in a great display of emergency action. The firefighters of the Madrid community also joined in, along with the usual excitement and applause for their agents and dogs, who showcased the originality and quality of their skills, with the participation of other invited police officers from the Madrid community.

We must also emphasize the large flow of families and young people to the fairgrounds, near the lake, where they sampled the «tortillo,» one of the most deeply rooted traditions among the city’s residents, as well as participating in numerous neighborhood associations and political parties.

We must also highlight a new edition of the Pepín Fernández Tortilla competition, which had an excellent turnout with 30 tortillas that showcased a high culinary level, with the first prize going to Víctor López for «Papa Omelette.» The second prize was awarded to Irene Úbeda for «La Qusera,» and the third to Iván Soto Fernández for «Tortilla Cake.»

Furthermore, we must emphasize the good reception of other free activities, such as Tortilla Train, the exhibition of the classic «Los Cochecillos,» the children’s area with inflatable castles, mini karts, mini golf, and workshops for children, an attractive parade with fun fantasy figures. All of this filled the fairgrounds with joy and color, complemented by the dance schools in Torrejón de Ardoz and simultaneous chess games.

The mayor, Alejandro Navarro Priesto, gave a very positive assessment of the day and the participation of the residents. «It was a happy Tortilla Day. We are very grateful to all Torrejonians who participated in municipal activities on Tortilla Day, one of the most deeply rooted traditions that remain alive for everyone.

The mayor also thanked all the entities that collaborated in the programming of activities, as without them, there would be no fun on Tortilla Day, and of course, the local police, health protection, civilian workers, and municipal employees who made the day so bright.
